Steve Moriarty, the owner of Tanzanite Jewelry Designs has been in the jewelry industry for over 40 years. This website has been online since 1999 and have had our retail store in Crown Point, Indiana for over 20 years. Our family has passion for everything we do. Steve Moriarty started in the jewelry business over 40 years ago. He started on the wholesaler side to becoming the owner of our retail store, Moriarty's Gem Art...which is right outside of Chicago in case you would ever like to visit us. Steve is also a master gemcutter, which is why the gemstones we choose for our rings and pendants are so important to him. If he is not happy about the way a stone is cut when he is finished, he won't use it in our jewelry. He also travels throughout Asia and Africa each year to bring you back some of the most amazing gemstones such as blue Sapphire, Ruby, Tourmaline, Emerald and other rough ever seen.
